I must confess.....I have been hiding my dirty yellow nail secret for around 2 months now.....
I have painted my nails for YEARS now and only a few months ago it was like all of a sudden they turned this nasty yellow hue....
I decided it was time to finally get rid of this nasty affliction after all I don't want people to think I smoke.....!
Here they are in all their hideous glory:

Here are the treatments I used to get them back to looking somewhat healthy:

Lemon juice concentrate....used 2 little bottles of this. Its really simple, just get a little plastic tub/bowl, fill it up with the lemon juice and soak your nails in it for around 5 minutes or as long as you like. I soaked my nails for 15 minutes for four days this past week.
After I did my lemon juice treatment I used this:

This treatment normally costs £9.99 but its currently on offer for £4.99 at Superdrug or if you have a bigger Sainsbury's near you its only £3.75 in there :)
Its marketed at getting your toes sandal ready but nails are nails and it doesn't say it cant be used on hands!
The top of one of the bottles has a little file which you use on the surface of your nail gently, then you apply the gel in the blue bottle, wait two minutes, then apply the clear polish which is a brightener. I have done this every day for 5 days now as the polish peels off after around a day.
I am going to try using this treatment every time I polish my nails so lets hope it holds up okay as a base coat despite the peeling.
Here is my nails after 5 days of treatment with both the lemon juice and Scholl nail whitener:

Not perfect but a big improvement! Hopefully after another week of these treatments I will have no yellow discolouration at all....I will try to remember to do an update on Friday 9th July :)
As I used 2 things I don't really know if one product worked better than the other so I will continue to use both in unison....perhaps soak my nails in lemon juice twice a week :)
